Sheikh Mansour Agricultural Excellence Award holds two informative workshops

ABU DHABI, The Higher Committee of the Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Agricultural Excellence Award organised two workshops to introduce farmers and livestock breeders across the country to the requirements and conditions for participating in the main award and associated competitions and festivals. The committee dedicated one workshop to the plant-related category covering all award segments aimed at farm owners. The second workshop was allocated to acquainting participants with the requirements for the animal-related category, as well as competitions and livestock auctions, targeting livestock breeders at the national level. The committee affirmed the continuation of organising informative workshops for all award categories until the registration closes on 30th November. Awareness teams will also inform farmers and breeders of the award requirements through participation in neighbourhood councils in various emirates, interactive sessions, and lectures. The main requirements for applying to the categories of the award include limiting participation to farmers and livestock breeders in the United Arab Emirates, and that the participant in the (commercial farms category) has a valid trade licence to practice the activity, and that the possession should not be in violation of the laws and regulations applicable in the country. For the category of open farms (vegetables and fruits), it requires that the area planted with vegetable crops should not be less than 5 dunums, while participation in the protected agriculture category (greenhouses or net houses) requires that the area planted with crops should not be less than (2) five dunums. As for the animal part of the Farmer and Breeder Excellence Award, it contains the categories of productive livestock farms, small-holder producers, beekeepers, and aquaculture. In addition, participation in it is subject to controls and requirements, including that the contestant has the right to participate in only one category of the Award during the same edition, while the winner has the right to run for the same category he/she has won after the lapse of two editions from the date of receiving the Award. The committee pointed out that the award has created two categories dedicated to women in the current session, which is the Female FarmerBreeder Excellence Award. The Organising Committee ensured participants’ engagement in discussions during the workshops, encouraging them to provide suggestions to motivate more farmers and breeders to participate in the award. Questions were also addressed. In response to a participant’s question during the plant-related workshop regarding field visits to participating farms, the award team confirmed that the evaluation committee would visit the qualified farms for assessment based on the award’s specified criteria and requirements. These visits aim to be beneficial for the breeders themselves, involving experts and specialists in modern and sustainable farming systems. One participant proposed including a category for home agricultural production in the award, and this suggestion has been incorporated into the award’s developmental proposals for the upcoming years. Regarding the evaluation criteria for the plant agricultural innovation category, the award team clarified that the first criterion is overcoming challenges by being able to identify the challenges that require innovative solutions and contribute to achieving the country’s goals and directions. The second criterion is authenticity by exploring the best global practices related to innovation and assessing the modernity and authenticity of the innovation. The third criterion includes the application and the ease of implementing the innovation. The fourth criterion addresses elements of development and improvement, while the fifth criterion focuses on application results by measuring the outcomes achieved through the innovation’s implementation and its impact on the agricultural sector. In response to a question about the possibility for winners from the previous cycle to enter the current cycle, the award team confirmed that the winner of the first cycle of the main award can only nominate themselves in one of the categories they have not already won in the current cycle. The jury’s decision is final and cannot be appealed. Given that the aim of the award is to encourage and reward breeders and commercial farms in the livestock sector and to give the greatest number of breeders and farmers the opportunity to participate, the candidates for the award are those who apply measures to protect human, animal and plant health and reduce the spread of diseases and epidemics, in addition to following best practices in nutrition and animal welfare to achieve higher productivity rates. On the difference between applying for the Productive Livestock Farms Award in the category of small-holder producers and large-scale producers (commercial category), the award team stated that the target category for participation should be identified before applying, ensuring better chances of winning. Therefore, it is not permissible to apply in both the Small and Large Producer categories simultaneously. Regarding the possibility of participating with a plant farm containing livestock, the award team stated that if the livestock is registered and identified, participation can be in either the livestock or plant category, as desired by the participant. It is advisable for the farmer to familiarize themselves with the requirements of each category and choose the most suitable option from the categories offered by the award that aligns with their farm.

Death Toll in Gaza and West Bank Surges to 2,215

Gaza, The Palestinian Health Ministry announced that the death toll from the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and the West Bank has surged to 2,215, including 724 children and 458 women with 8,714 injured, including 2,450 children and 1,536 women.

According to the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA), Gaza hospitals recorded the death of 315 citizens, including 90 children and 107 women, in addition to the injury of 1,788 citizens, since Saturday morning.

The Israeli occupation aircraft launched a series of violent raids on all areas of the Gaza Strip from north to south, targeting citizens’ homes and the vicinity of some hospitals, in addition to residential towers.

Despite the warnings of United Nations agencies about the consequences of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, which has continued for the eighth day with a siege imposed on the Strip that includes cutting off water and electricity, the occupation continues to refuse to bring in any aid, medical and food materials and is still continuing with the plan to empty and displace more than a million Palestinians from the Strip.

Palestinian Foreign Ministry Calls for Compelling Israeli Occupation to Immediately Stop Aggression on Gaza

Ramallah, The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called for halting discrimination in enforcing international law towards civilians and ramping up pressure on the occupation state to immediately stop the persistent Israeli aggression on Gaza, which reached its eighth consecutive day.

In a statement on Saturday, the ministry indicated that it continues its political and diplomatic movement to rally wider international condemnations and pushes Western countries towards halting the double standard policy towards the Palestinian civilians, along with the hateful selectivity in enforcing the international law on civilians’ lives.

The ministry called for urgent international action to accomplish the ceasefire immediately, in addition to securing access to essential needs in the Gaza Strip, including water, electricity, medical and food items, and other supplies, as well as coercing the occupation state to uphold the international law towards the Palestinian civilians.

It condemned the open occupation’s war on Palestinian people and their entire rights, especially the people of Gaza who are being exposed to genocide and unprecedented disaster, stressing the significance of pulling the Western countries from the framework of double standards to give priority to focus their attention on the blood and suffering of the Palestinian people like other people in the world.

Meanwhile, the Gaza Strip has been witnessing an unprecedented escalation since last Sunday, where the Israeli occupation continues heavy bombardment of the besieged Gaza Strip amid an intentional cutting off of electricity and water, in addition to preventing the access of food and fuel to its population of 2.1 million people.

The Israeli large-scale shelling which is described by UN and international relief organizations as the most violent and aggressive, has resulted in the fall of nearly two thousand martyrs, including hundreds of children and women, and massive devastation, along with damaged cities, with more than 400 thousand Palestinians fleeing the strip.

Hezbollah targets 5 Israeli sites with guided missiles and mortar shells

Baghdad, Today, Saturday, the Lebanese Hezbollah announced that it had targeted the radar sites, Ruwaisat Al-Alam, Al-Samaqa, Zibdin, and Ramtha, with guided missiles and mortar shells.

Hezbollah said in a statement, “The resistance achieved accurate and direct hits on 5 Israeli sites in the occupied Shebaa Farms.”

The Secretary-General of the Lebanese Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, stated earlier today that “the resistance situation today is excellent, and all scenarios are fully prepared.”

The Iranian Tasnim news agency reported that “Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian met, during his visit to Lebanon, with the Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah,” noting that the current developments in the region were discussed in this meeting, especially developments in Palestine after the “Tawafan Al-Aqsa ” operation, which was carried out by the Palestinian factions.

In this meeting, the two sides condemned “the unilateral support provided by America and some Western countries for the Zionist aggression against Gaza and the killing of the innocent Palestinian people,” and praised “the widespread support for the Palestinian resistance throughout the world,” stressing “the necessity of unity and cooperation between peoples and Islamic countries and free people in the world, and immediate and coordinated action to stop the crimes of the Zionist entity,” according to the agency. Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian stressed, earlier today, “the necessity of stopping the crimes of the Israeli occupation in the Gaza Strip immediately.”

He said, in a press conference at the Iranian embassy in Beirut, “The resistance is the one that determines its conditions after stopping the aggression on Gaza, and it is also the one that will decide what it will do if the scope of the war expands.”

On October 7, the Commander-in-Chief of the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Hamas movement, Muhammad al-Deif, announced the start of Operation “Tawafan Al-Aqsa” to put an end to “Israeli violations,” according to him. Al-Deif said in a statement: “The strike the first, which targeted enemy positions, airports, and military fortifications, exceeded 5,000 missiles and shells.”

The Israeli army then announced the start of Operation Iron Swords and launched strong raids on the Gaza Strip, in addition to clashes with Hamas fighters inside the settlements.

The Hamas movement was able to capture an unknown number of Israelis, including soldiers and officers, and return them to the Gaza Strip, while the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced last Sunday that the security cabinet had officially approved the start of the war on the Gaza Strip.
