Media Center at Hajj and Umrah Terminal Complex at King Abdulaziz International Airport Inaugurated

Jeddah: The transport and logistics services sector inaugurated today, Sunday, the media center for the Hajj 1445 AH season at the Hajj and Umrah Terminal Complex at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah. The center is designed to provide support and assistance to over 1,300 journalists from 16 countries during the arrival and departure phases of pilgrims via the airport throughout the Hajj season.

Operating around the clock, the media center offers a comprehensive environment for journalists, including shared workspaces and continuously updated information. The center’s launch enhances the efficiency of media operations during the Hajj season, catering to local and international media outlets, including news agencies, television channels, journalists, reporters, and photographers.

Additionally, the media center facilitates media efforts and supports journalists by providing effective and diverse communication channels. This facility enables comprehensive and accurate media coverage of the Hajj sea
son.

The Saudi transport and logistics services sector plays a vital role in serving pilgrims across all sectors-land, sea, air, and rail transport. For the 1445 AH Hajj season, agencies under the sector offer 57 main services to pilgrims.

Vice Foreign Minister Participates in High-level Meeting between KFCRIS, UN Alliance of Civilizations, Nizami Ganjavi International Center

Riyadh: On behalf of Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Vice Foreign Minister Eng. Waleed El-Khereiji today in Riyadh participated in a high-level meeting between the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies (KFCRIS), the UN Alliance of Civilizations, and the Nizami Ganjavi International Center.

During the meeting, El-Khereiji delivered a speech highlighting the most pressing global challenges, the rapid political and economic transformations, and the growing geopolitical conflicts witnessed worldwide. He noted that these hardships were the result of a series of common challenges and emerging developments, such as climate change, cybersecurity, and the technological acceleration in artificial intelligence fields, which have impacted countries and peoples. He stressed the importance of enhancing collective action to address these challenges.

He pointed out that the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza and the unprecedented humanitarian suffering occurring is due to the
international community and its institutions’ failure to fulfil their responsibilities in maintaining international peace and security. He underscored that no party will prevail through further aggression and brutality and that the only way forward is through an immediate cessation of hostilities, securing sufficient delivery of humanitarian and relief aid, and resorting to a just and comprehensive peace process through the two-state solution.

The vice minister reiterated the Kingdom’s stance on the importance of enhancing understanding and cooperation to find common solutions to geopolitical and economic crises. Saudi Arabia always calls for respect for various peoples and cultures’ diverse cultural, religious, and moral contexts.

He also said that the Kingdom has been striving to develop a comprehensive framework to confront various economic and social challenges at the regional level since the launch of its ambitious Saudi Vision 2030. The Kingdom prioritizes enhancing regional and international collecti
ve action to contribute to tangible progress towards a more secure, sustainable, and prosperous future.

Transport Minister to Inaugurate Future Aviation Forum 2024 Tomorrow

Riyadh: Under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Minister of Transport and Logistics Services and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), Eng. Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser will inaugurate the Future Aviation Forum 2024 activities in the capital, Riyadh, tomorrow, Monday. The forum, organized by GACA from May 20 to 22, will be attended by over 5,000 leaders and experts in the global civil aviation industry from over 120 countries and organizations. The participants include more than 30 ministers and 65 heads of civil aviation authorities from participating countries, airline and airport presidents, CEOs of aircraft manufacturing companies, and several of the world’s largest investors.

This year’s forum will be held under the theme “Enhancing the Level of Global Connectivity” and will feature an intensive program of events over three days. Aviation industry experts will discuss solutions to address the globa
l aviation sector’s priority challenges. Additionally, there will be a focus on reviewing investment opportunities in the aviation sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which amount to $100 billion and provide unprecedented opportunities in the aviation sector in the Kingdom, to enhance aviation development globally. It is expected that the forum will witness the signing of more than 70 agreements and deals with a total value of $12 billion, along with the announcement of several agreements with major global companies during the forum.

Throughout the forum, 120 speakers will share their expertise during public discussions and panel sessions on the most prominent issues facing today’s global aviation sector. Topics will include growth and investment, airports and air connectivity, supply chain management and resilience, cargo and logistics, air traffic and the future of aviation, technology, digital transformation and security, human capital, and sustainability.

Architecture and Design Commission, UK Royal College of Art Sign MoU

Riyadh: The Architecture and Design Commission announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Royal College of Art in the United Kingdom. The signing ceremony took place on Tuesday, May 14th, at the King Abdullah Financial District during the “Great Futures” Initiative conference. The Architecture and Design Commission was represented by the CEO, Dr. Sumayah Al-Solaiman, while the Royal College of Art in the UK was represented by the College President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Christoph Lindner.

The memorandum aims to enhance cooperation between the two countries in the cultural and architectural design fields and to implement best practices through various areas of collaboration. These include offering short courses and workshops in architecture and design, implementing specialized educational programs, and supporting entrepreneurship programs in the sector.

Dr. Solaiman emphasized that this step reflects the commission’s commitment to enhancing international cooperation and knowledge
exchange in various fields of architecture and design, contributing to the development and growth of this sector to achieve the highest standards of excellence.

She also noted that this memorandum is part of the commission’s strategic plans, highlighting the importance of building international strategic partnerships to foster innovation and development in the architecture and design sectors overseen by the commission. The MoU aligns with the commission’s approach to building international strategic partnerships with leading global organizations to attract and apply best practices and international expertise.

This initiative is part of efforts to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries across various sectors. It encourages and supports cultural and educational exchange between the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia.

Ministry of Labour Finalizes Preparations to Launch Doha Dialogue on Labour Mobility Between Gulf, African Countries

Doha: The Ministry of Labour has finalized its preparations to launch the Doha Dialogue on labour mobility between Gulf and African countries on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 21 – 22nd, with the participation of 33 countries, including the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jordan, Lebanon, and 25 African countries.

The Doha Dialogue will gather Their Excellencies Ministers of Labour, representatives of the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), experts, academics, and representatives of civil society.

Members of the technical preparatory committee for the dialogue arrived in Doha earlier. The Executive Office of the GCC Councils of Ministers of Labour and Social Affairs will play a crucial role in coordinating labour policies and standards alongside their counterparts from the African Union.

The Doha Dialogue is a result of an agreement between the State of Qatar and the African Union to establish a consultative mechanism between African and Gulf countrie
s. This mechanism aims to adopt best practices to strengthen regional cooperation and partnerships for improved recruitment of workers from African countries and to ensure fair mobility between regions.

The Doha Dialogue is expected to be a permanent, non-binding, state-led forum with the participation of relevant organizations as observers.

The Dialogue will provide a conducive environment for a frank and open exchange of ideas to foster trust, cooperation, and partnership to reach best practice standards for labour mobility from African countries.
