US deeply is concerned about humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh: Blinken


The United States on Sunday said it was deeply concerned about the rapidly deteriorating humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh.



“We note that humanitarian supplies are positioned near both the Lachin and Aghdam routes, and we repeat our call for the immediate and simultaneous opening of both corridors to allow passage of desperately needed humanitarian supplies to the men, women, and children in Nagorno-Karabakh,” US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a US Department of State statement.



“We also urge leaders against taking any actions that raise tensions or distract from this goal. The use of force to resolve disputes is unacceptable,” Blinken added.

JEDCO, USAID sign cooperation agreement


Amman, Sep. 10 (Petra) – Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation (JEDCO) and the USAID Business Growth Activity, a five-year project 2021-2026, on Sunday signed an agreement to activate joint cooperation and support small and medium-sized companies, especially establishments operating in the Kingdom’s industrial sector.



Under the agreement signed by JEDCO Executive Director, Abdel Fattah Kayed, and the project director, Wafa Aranki, the two sides will launch joint cooperation to help companies modernize and improve production and services, benefit from e-commerce and the digital transformation process, business development support services, and obtain quality certificates of international standards.



The agreement also stipulates support for Jordanian companies in implementing green practices, in addition to collaboration in identifying and studying challenges and obstacles impeding growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups.

FM receives PLO Secretary General


Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, received Sunday Secretary General of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), Hussein Al-Sheikh.



The meeting is part of the ongoing coordination and consultation between the Jordan and Palestine.



Safadi and Al-Sheikh discussed efforts to stop the deterioration in the occupied Palestinian territories, and create a real political horizon to re-launch serious and effective negotiations to achieve a just and comprehensive peace in accordance with the two-state solution and leads to the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state on the pre-June 4, 1967 borders, with occupied Jerusalem as its capital, to live in security and peace alongside Israel, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and approved references.



Safadi and Al-Sheikh also called for stopping illegal Israeli measures that undermine chances of achieving peace, and warned of the danger of the continued absence of real movement to resolve the conflict on the basis of the two-state solution.

Crown Prince receives Saudi Shura Council speaker


His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II on Sunday received Saudi Shura Council Speaker Abdullah Al Sheikh.



The meeting, held at Al Husseiniya Palace, tackled the deep-rooted ties between the two countries and peoples, as well as means to expand cooperation across all sectors.



Discussions also addressed the importance of maintaining consultation and coordination between the two countries on issues of mutual concern, in service of mutual interests, as well as Arab and Islamic causes.



Director of the Office of the Crown Prince Zaid Baqain and Saudi Ambassador to Jordan Nayef bin Bandar Al Sudairi attended the meeting.

Jordan Witnesses the Inception of its First 3D Concrete Printing Robot


Jordan Al-Ghad Advanced Engineering Company announced the successful installation and operation of the nation’s first 3D concrete printing robot.



In an interview with the Jordan News Agency (Petra) this Sunday, the company’s CEO, Anas Azaiza, detailed the capabilities of this state-of-the-art machine. The robot employs a six-axis robotic arm to seamlessly pour concrete, facilitating the creation of intricate shapes, figures, and sections both efficiently and precisely.



Azaiza highlighted the burgeoning significance of this technology in the global construction landscape. With numerous companies worldwide racing to leverage robotic technology for housing units and intricate concrete objects, the introduction of such a robot in Jordan stands as a pivotal moment for the local construction sector.



The utilization of 3D concrete printing brings a transformative edge to building design and production. It offers unprecedented flexibility in crafting precast concrete, eliminating the need for pre-fabricated molds and allowing designers to fully realize their creative visions.



Additionally, this innovation promises to enhance material efficiency, reduce construction waste, streamline design adaptations, and elevate product quality.

1st cybersecurity program launched at University of Jordan


Zain Innovation Campus (ZINC), in cooperation with Jordan Design and Development Bureau (JODDB), recently launched the first specialized cybersecurity program for University of Jordan (UJ)’s students.



According to its statement, ZINC is scheduled to kick off a series of training courses in the cybersecurity field successively, at a number of Jordanian universities, in joint cooperation, and will contribute to developing youth skills in this area.



ZINC announced the launch of the first program courses for students, in cooperation with JODDB at the UJ, which provides 120 intensive training hours, provided by cybersecurity experts from JODDB’s “Cyber Shield” Academy, the statement said.



UJ-based ZINC branch hosts all the program activities, which were launched on September 6 with participation of 18 students.

NCHR participates in Right to Healthy Environment Conference in Manama


Chairman of the Board of Trustees of National Centre for Human Rights (NCHR), Samar Al Hajj Hassan, stressed necessity of increasing levels of awareness and education on the best practices necessary to promote right to enjoy a suitable and healthy environment.



Al Hajj Hassan made the remarks during her participation in an international conference, entitled: “The Impact of Human Activity on the Right to a Healthy and Clean Environment: Practices, Challenges, and Solutions,” which was hosted by the Bahraini capital, Manama.



She also highlighted importance of underlining environmental impact associated with some practices on climate and natural resource security, and effect of these imbalances on people of different groups and ages, especially children, the elderly, and people with disabilities.



On future action, she said awareness campaigns should take advantage of the media and social platforms, highlighting necessity of introducing these eco-concepts into the school curricula at various levels.



In a statement Sunday, NCHR said a dialogue was held on the conference’s sidelines about accreditation of national human rights institutions by Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI).



Al Hajj Hassan reviewed the NCHR’s experience, work methodology, and standards that led to its re-accreditation under GANHRI “A-status”.

Work underway to kick off Jordanian pavilion at Expo 2023 Doha


Efforts have begun to establish a Jordanian pavilion at International Horticultural Exhibition, Expo 2023 Doha, in preparation for inaugurating the largest and most important global event hosted by Doha after 2022 FIFA World Cup, on October 2, with participation of about 80 countries.



The event will be held under the slogan “Green Desert, Better Environment,” aimed at inspiring the international community to integrate innovative solutions to mitigate desertification, as the the first of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa.



The international meeting of the participating countries’ representatives kicked off in Doha, with participation of a Jordanian delegation, headed by the Secretary-General of Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply, and Commissioner-General of Jordanian pavilion, Dana Zoubi, according to a ministry statement.



The Jordanian pavilion, which will be inaugurated under the slogan: “Solid Roots, a Greener Era,” will feature Jordan’s agricultural heritage and innovative technologies, aimed at highlighting sustainability efforts and reducing desertification.



The pavilion will highlight Jordan’s story in benefiting from its eco-diversity and overcoming challenges, especially in the field of the global food security crisis and will also display the Kingdom’s picturesque nature, the statement said.



Visitors to the Jordanian pavilion will have the opportunity to taste a group of Jordan’s famous traditional cuisines and purchase souvenirs that promote the Kingdom’s various tourist and natural sites.
