Abu Dhabi Hazardous Materials Management Centre and ADAFSA Ink MoU for Agricultural Sector Safety

Abu dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Hazardous Materials Management Centre and the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) have formalized a partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a cooperative framework for the management of hazardous materials in the agricultural sector. This agreement aligns with the UAE's national objectives in food, environmental sustainability, and digital transformation.

According to Emirates News Agency, the MoU was signed by Khalfan Abdullah Al Mansoori, Acting Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Hazardous Materials Management Centre, and Dr. Tariq Ahmed Al Ameri, Acting Director-General of ADAFSA. The signing took place at the Hazardous Materials Management Centre's headquarters, with key officials and specialists from both organizations in attendance.

Khalfan Al Mansoori emphasized that the MoU is a strategic initiative that bolsters Abu Dhabi's efforts to create an integrated hazardous materials management system. This system aims to uphold the highest environmental sustainability and community safety standards, in line with national regulatory priorities. Al Mansoori noted that the agreement enhances Abu Dhabi's business and investment environment by establishing a reliable hazardous materials management framework. This framework aims to boost investor confidence and operational efficiency in agriculture, manufacturing, and logistics sectors.

Dr. Tariq Ahmed Al Ameri highlighted that the MoU underscores ADAFSA's commitment to improving Abu Dhabi's food and agricultural safety system. The collaboration with the Hazardous Materials Management Centre aims to regulate hazardous materials handling according to international standards. This partnership is expected to provide a secure environment for farmers and producers, ultimately improving the quality and competitiveness of agricultural and food production.

The MoU seeks to form a strategic partnership that enhances the environmental, health, and safety framework across Abu Dhabi. Both parties plan to launch initiatives that support safe hazardous materials management and develop related systems and procedures. The MoU also aims to develop mechanisms to improve stakeholder services and regulatory processes, facilitating digital transformation and easing the customer journey to meet Abu Dhabi Government aspirations.

The agreement includes raising community awareness about hazardous materials risks through campaigns and initiatives.
