Abu dhabi: The Aqaba Container Port Company has reported a robust operational performance for the first half of the year, driven by operational excellence and commercial growth. The company emphasized its commitment to high health and safety standards, alongside ongoing sustainability and community development efforts.

According to Emirates News Agency, the company recorded a total handling volume of 472,680 TEU (Twenty-Foot Equivalent Unit), a global standard for measuring shipping capacity and terminal throughput. This marks an increase when compared to 468,062 TEU in the same period in 2025. Additionally, the volume of transit goods surged to 36,412 TEU, reflecting a 177 percent increase from 13,143 TEU during the first half of 2025.

The port also noted a significant uptick in truck movements, with 188,927 entry and exit operations through its gates, compared to 182,490 in the same period in 2025. This increase underscores the continued efficiency of the flow of goods through the supply chain.

A total of 8 ships, each exceeding 5,000 TEU, were handled by the company, with one ship alone managing 10,884 TEU, marking the highest container handling volume among ships at the port. The port also welcomed the Kota Odyssey, an 8,200 TEU LNG dual-fuel container vessel from Singapore's Pacific International Lines (PIL), on its maiden voyage to the Kingdom.

The Container Port Company strengthened its role as a regional hub for Ship-to-ship (STS) transshipment by managing 4,412 TEU of transshipment containers. This adjustment was made in response to the rapid changes in regional trade patterns.
