Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and Dubai Airports Discuss Strategic Partnership

Dubai:Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), met with Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation and coordination under their strategic partnership.

According to Emirates News Agency, the discussion focused on reviewing projects and solutions aimed at developing world-class infrastructure with high efficiency. This effort aligns with future aspirations and supports sustainable growth in the region.

Al Tayer emphasized the strategic importance of Dubai Airports, particularly the new Al Maktoum International Airport and its future expansion plans, within DEWA's framework. The focus is on making these airports the most sustainable globally, reducing carbon emissions towards Net Zero, and establishing a model of energy efficiency and sustainability.

He also noted that DEWA's collaboration with Dubai Airports is a pioneering example of consolidating energy efficiency. DEWA's robust network is prepared to meet infrastructure needs efficiently and reliably, supported by projects such as the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. The park's current capacity stands at 4,660 MW, with a goal to exceed 8,000 MW by 2030, surpassing the original target of 5,000 MW.

These initiatives are part of Dubai's commitment to its green economy journey, adhering to the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050, which aim for 100% of Dubai's energy to come from clean sources by 2050.
