GAFT Holds Workshop with Commercial Attaché Office in Malaysia to Support Public and Private Sectors

The General Authority of Foreign Trade (GAFT) has recently hosted a harmonization workshop in collaboration with the Commercial Attaché Office in Malaysia. This workshop, held at GAFT’s headquarters in Riyadh, included participation from Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Indonesia Faisal bin Abdullah Al-Amoudi and various representatives from the public and private sectors.

The workshop’s primary goal was to align GAFT’s efforts with its key partners to more effectively support for the Saudi private sector. Discussions focused on identifying and addressing challenges, reviewing investment and export opportunities, and consolidating efforts across relevant entities.

One of the workshop’s highlights was a segment dedicated to examining Indonesia’s economic outlook until 2050 involving the Saudi negotiating team. This discussion aimed to uncover future commercial opportunities for Saudi and Indonesian collaboration within the upcoming Free Trade Agreement framework. The first round of negotiations, set for this mon
th, will concentrate on key areas such as trade, investment, services, and digital trade.

The Commercial Attaché Office in Malaysia, which also oversees several East Asian countries, including Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand, plays a vital role in strengthening trade relations. This collaboration includes promoting Saudi Arabia’s non-oil exports to new Asian markets and attracting foreign investment to the Kingdom.

This workshop is part of GAFT’s broader initiative to facilitate private sector operations and support the relevant entities through the services provided by commercial attachés and the various departments within GAFT.
