Hamdan bin Mohammed Approves First Recipient of Mohammed bin Rashid Leadership Medal

Abu dhabi: H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, led a pivotal meeting of the Supervisory Committee of the Mohammed bin Rashid Leadership Medal. The session focused on reviewing the evaluation outcomes for 32 government entities involved in the Medal's inaugural edition.

According to Emirates News Agency, the Mohammed bin Rashid Leadership Medal represents the highest accolade within the Government of Dubai, designed to foster a work culture that promotes the development of government leaders and empowers second-tier leadership. H.H. Sheikh Hamdan approved an official of the rank of Director-General as the first recipient of the Medal, with the announcement and honouring set to occur at the Mohammed bin Rashid Leadership Forum 2026.

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan underscored that the Medal will recognise a Director-General who excels in empowering and developing second-tier leaders, aligning with the vision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to nurture leaders who can propel Dubai's development and achievements. He emphasized the importance of preparing young leaders in government institutions to ensure their readiness for future challenges.

The meeting was attended by key figures including Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Omar Sultan Al Olama, Abdulla Mohammed Al Basti, and Saeed Al Eter. They reviewed the outcomes of the evaluation process, highlighting the readiness of second-tier leaders and showcasing a pool of promising talent. The session also included discussions on the design of the Medal and plans for its unveiling at the 2026 Forum.

The Committee engaged in a comprehensive evaluation process for the Medal's inaugural edition. This involved over 100 interviews with Directors-General and second-tier leaders, covering criteria for leadership impact and involving 10 global leadership experts as evaluators. The evaluation methodology was meticulously structured to ensure objectivity and impartiality.

The Mohammed bin Rashid Leadership Medal is awarded annually to a Director-General within the Government of Dubai who significantly contributes to developing and empowering second-tier leaders. It aims to build a leadership empowerment ecosystem within entities, inspire high performance, and position Dubai as a global benchmark in leadership development. The initiative promotes institutional empowerment, decentralisation, and strategic task assignments to enhance future readiness and share success stories for broader implementation.
