Khalifa University and Lockheed Martin Forge Partnership to Advance Aerospace and Defense Technologies.


Abu Dhabi: Khalifa University of Science and Technology and Lockheed Martin have announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand their collaborative efforts in aerospace and defense technologies, as well as to foster human capital development in the UAE.

According to Emirates News Agency, the MoU was signed by Prof. Ebrahim Al Hajri, President of Khalifa University, and Frank St. John, Chief Operating Officer of Lockheed Martin, in Abu Dhabi, with senior officials from both organizations in attendance. The agreement will see Lockheed Martin expand its Center for Innovation and Security Solutions (CISS) to Khalifa University’s Main Campus, creating a platform for innovation, training, and technological leadership, enhancing the UAE’s aerospace and defense capabilities.

Prof. Ebrahim Al Hajri emphasized the significance of the agreement, highlighting Khalifa University’s ongoing commitment to developing national competencies and supporting innovation in aerospace and defense technologie
s. He emphasized that the agreement reflects the confidence global industries have in the university’s ability to provide innovative solutions and marks a culmination of strategic cooperation with Lockheed Martin.

Frank St. John remarked that the partnership represents a significant step forward in advancing aerospace and defense technologies in the UAE. He noted the collaboration’s aim to empower local talent and drive innovation, strengthening the industry and contributing to the region’s goals of security and economic growth.

The CISS, established in 2014 in Masdar City, will continue to focus on research and innovation in artificial intelligence, advanced simulation technologies, autonomous systems, and data analytics. The center will serve as a hub for collaboration on projects that advance talent development and critical technologies, supporting the UAE’s strategic objectives in defense, aerospace, and security.

The partnership underscores Lockheed Martin’s commitment to advancing national security a
nd aligns with the UAE’s vision of enhancing human capital development through education, innovation, and technological excellence. It aims to bridge the gap between academic research and industry applications by focusing on innovative solutions for current and future challenges.
