Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities Launches Cultural Immersion Programme with Global Participation

ABU DHABI: Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities (MBZUH) has initiated its first-ever ‘Linguistic and Cultural Immersion’ programme, enrolling 24 students from across the globe. The programme, which runs until December 21, 2024, aims to foster cultural understanding and promote the positive image of the United Arab Emirates through direct engagement with its rich heritage.

According to Emirates News Agency, the initiative seeks to enhance participants’ understanding of Emirati society by immersing them in its values, customs, and traditions. The programme offers a comprehensive introduction to the UAE’s diverse heritage, including opportunities for students to engage with various societal segments and explore local customs, Emirati folklore, and traditional medicine.

Central to the programme are intensive workshops designed to improve students’ Arabic language skills, both spoken and written, alongside literary reading sessions to deepen their comprehension of the language. Participants will also expe
rience cultural connectivity through visits to significant sites in Abu Dhabi, such as museums, historical buildings, and festivals. They will have the chance to attend national and cultural events, engaging in 60 different activities organised by MBZUH.

Dr. Khalifa Al Dhaheri, Chancellor of MBZUH, highlighted the programme’s alignment with the university’s vision to promote cultural communication and human commonalities. During his address to the students, Dr. Al Dhaheri underscored the role of language and cultural engagement in fostering coexistence, tolerance, and bridging international divides. He emphasized that such initiatives contribute to societal stability and the development of individuals who value dialogue and respect for cultural diversity.

Dr. Al Dhaheri stated that the programme represents a significant step in educational efforts to instill cultural communication as a lifestyle, facilitating practical experiences and dialogues that offer an in-depth understanding of Arab customs and tradit
ions. The programme, he noted, plays a crucial role in bridging civilisational gaps and fostering tolerance through direct cultural engagement.
