Kathmandu: The death toll in Nepal and Tibet from last week's catastrophic floods has climbed to 750, with 3,044 individuals still missing, local authorities reported. Rescue operations are ongoing, with rescuers relocating to higher ground in response to rising river levels caused by continuous rainfall.

According to Emirates News Agency, the disaster authority in Nepal confirmed that fatalities in the country have increased to 734, with 2,498 individuals unaccounted for and 7,514 people successfully rescued. In neighboring China, officials in Tibet disclosed that 16 people have died in Gyirong County, with 546 still missing as of Saturday evening.

The situation has also affected foreign nationals, with 261 individuals from 23 different countries reported missing on the Tibetan side. Among them are 104 people from Nepal, 49 from India, 33 Latvians, 18 Americans, and 15 Britons, as detailed in China's first breakdown by nationality.

Beijing and Kathmandu are collaborating to both identify missing citizens and foreign nationals and to enhance cooperation in disaster prevention, mitigation, and climate-change response, as reported by CCTV.
