The General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments participated in the 9th Assembly of the Abu Dhabi Forum for Peace under the banner “Globalisation of War and the University of Peace: Urgent Needs and Opportunities for Partnership”, held 8-10, 2022, under the patronage of HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Invited to the stage, Mr Mohamed Saeed al-Neyadi, Director-General of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments, gave a speech in which he emphasised the necessity of establishing partnerships to achieve global peace. In his speech, al-Neyadi said that the success of partnerships is achieved through the links that control their work, presenting three models for these links. The first is the added value that concerns each party in the partnership process, which may vary in terms of its type, according to its needs and priorities, but does not conflict with each other in order to achieve the goal and general interests of the partnership. He noted that examples of partnerships have multiplied in our world today, where the added value is manifested for each partner, benefitting the overall customers. He cited the second example, which revolves around the necessity of adhering to the shared values based on agreed-upon principles in terms of clarity of its concepts, explaining that partnership can never be formed among partners whose goals contradict the interpretation of the values agreed upon in partnerships. He said that the third link is the exclusivity to the target through partnership, explaining that there is no harm in the diversity of participating parties, their tools, and ways on the condition that the result is one. On a related note, al-Neyadi further said that the partnership system’s success is based on knowledge leadership. Partnerships can only be achieved when accurate information and the correct data are shared among partners, and the agreed-upon values are cherished, thus contributing to the success of partnerships. Concluding his speech, Awqaf’s Director-General cast the light on the necessity and inevitability of partnerships, saying that every partnership can be broken up, whether agreed upon or be affected due to the desired benefit, and one of its conditions is violated. So, the parties are forced to break up and put an end to the partnership. Still, the most critical issue is the “Literature and Ethics of Partnerships” that preserve the partnership results even after they are terminated while maintaining good faith and appreciation.
