Abu dhabi: The Public Prosecution has expanded its investigation into the publication and circulation of a false report claiming that explosions were heard in central Dubai. This move comes as authorities aim to address the spread of misinformation and ensure accountability for those involved.

According to Emirates News Agency, Counsellor Dr. Hamad Saif Al Shamsi, Attorney-General of the UAE, stated that the Public Prosecution is actively pursuing an investigation into the matter. The investigation focuses on a news report that falsely claimed explosions in central Dubai, and efforts are underway to thoroughly examine the roles of individuals involved in the report's preparation, approval, and publication. The process includes evaluating compliance with legal and professional standards in verifying information prior to publication.

The Attorney-General highlighted that the Public Prosecution has already taken steps to hear the statement of the reporter involved. Furthermore, individuals responsible for the report at the news agency have been summoned as part of the investigation. This examination is crucial for determining responsibility and taking necessary legal actions based on the findings.

Dr. Al Shamsi emphasized that the agency's decision to retract the report and issue an apology does not halt the investigation. Instead, it reinforces the commitment to identifying legal responsibilities and pursuing actions mandated by law following the investigation's outcome.
