Roblox Expands Global Reach with Arabic Language Support

Dubai: Roblox, the popular gaming and creation platform, has announced the addition of Arabic language support across all devices, including desktop, tablet, mobile Android and iOS devices, as well as PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

According to Emirates News Agency, Roblox CEO and co-founder David Baszucki revealed this update during a fireside chat at the World Governments Summit in Dubai. The event, held from February 11th to 13th, focused on 'Shaping Future Governments'. Baszucki expressed enthusiasm about the platform's mission to connect a billion people and highlighted the importance of accessibility, particularly with the growing user base in the UAE and the broader MENA region.

Roblox, which boasts 88.9 million daily active users globally, is a platform where users can engage in user-generated games and virtual experiences. The addition of Arabic brings the total number of supported languages to 16, underscoring Roblox's rising popularity in the MENA region. The platform's success is evident, having ranked as the second and fifth most downloaded gaming app on the iOS and Google Play stores in 2024. Furthermore, from Q3 2021 to Q3 2024, Roblox's daily active users and hours engaged saw significant growth in five MENA countries.

The new language support extends to Roblox's automatic translation tools, enabling creators to offer games in any of the 16 supported languages, including Arabic. This eliminates the need for manual translation management. Additionally, Roblox's text chat filtering technology, which blocks inappropriate language, is now available in Arabic. This technology, along with human moderation, is part of Roblox's commitment to maintaining Community Standards and ensuring a safe environment for users.
