SEHA Sheikh Tahnoon Bin Mohammed Medical City Named Stroke Centre of Excellence

Al Ain:Abu Dhabi The Department of Health - Abu Dhabi has designated SEHA Sheikh Tahnoon Bin Mohammed Medical City in Al Ain as a Centre of Excellence for stroke treatment. This recognition is part of the DoH's efforts to enhance healthcare services across various specialties within the Emirate.

According to Emirates News Agency, this designation positions the medical city as Al Ain's foremost destination for comprehensive stroke care. The facility will provide high-quality treatment options, including vascular surgeries, neurosurgical interventions, and advanced therapies for stroke management.

Dr. Noura Al Ghaithi, Undersecretary of DoH, emphasized that the designation strengthens the network of stroke Centres of Excellence in the region, with the facility now joining two others in Abu Dhabi. This expansion aims to improve access to specialized care for the community.

Rashed Al Qubaisi, Group Chief Operating Officer at PureHealth, highlighted that this recognition underscores PureHealth's dedication to delivering specialized, world-class care in the UAE. The medical city is part of an integrated ecosystem focused on clinical excellence and patient-first approaches.

The facility has been accredited by the American Heart Association as a Comprehensive Stroke Centre, upholding global best practices in stroke management. It consistently exceeds key performance indicators set by the DoH, ensuring timely interventions and improved patient outcomes.

The medical city's stroke unit provides acute care and rehabilitation services with a specialized multidisciplinary team. It uses advanced diagnostic tools like AI-enhanced CT Perfusion and MRI protocols to ensure rapid diagnosis and intervention. Tele-stroke services further enhance care by allowing remote expert consultations.

Centres of Excellence are healthcare facilities designated by DoH to provide specialized programs in specific medical areas while adhering to best practices and high-quality standards. They must meet specific criteria, including clinical outcomes, patient safety, and medical education, to receive this designation.
