New York:H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, conducted a series of meetings in New York with foreign ministers attending the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

According to Emirates News Agency , Sheikh Abdullah held separate discussions with H.R.H. Prince Abdul Mateen, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brunei Darussalam; Iruthisham Adam, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives; and Shishir Khanal, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nepal. The focus of these meetings was to explore ways to enhance bilateral relations and cooperation in various sectors such as the economy, trade, investment, culture, tourism, energy, and artificial intelligence, to benefit mutual interests and bolster development and prosperity.

The meetings also covered several issues of shared interest on the UN General Assembly's agenda, with participants exchanging views on recent regional and international developments. Sheikh Abdullah emphasized the UAE's dedication to reinforcing its international partnerships and advancing frameworks for constructive cooperation to support sustainable development, security, stability, and economic prosperity.

Additionally, the discussions included preparations for the 2026 United Nations Water Conference, which the UAE will co-host with the Republic of Senegal from December 8th to 10th. The importance of international cooperation and collective efforts to tackle water challenges and promote sustainable water resource management was highlighted.

Sheikh Abdullah also met with Tom Fletcher, UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, to discuss regional and international developments, ways to enhance cooperation in the humanitarian sector, and the importance of supporting global efforts to improve humanitarian response and alleviate crisis impacts.

These meetings were attended by Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation; Lana Nusseibeh, Minister of State; Saeed Al Hajeri, Minister of State; and Ambassador Mohamed Abushahab, Permanent Representative of the UAE to the United Nations.
