Sultan bin Ahmed Explores Advanced Health Sciences Labs at University of Sharjah


SHARJAH: H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah, visited various state-of-the-art laboratories within the College of Health Sciences at the University of Sharjah. During his tour, he explored facilities dedicated to physiotherapy, spinal health, and virtual reality technology for nursing skills, showcasing the university’s commitment to advancing health education and services.

According to Emirates News Agency, Sheikh Sultan’s tour included a detailed examination of specialized equipment designed for precise diagnosis and effective treatment. The spinal health laboratory demonstrated advanced devices like the 3D decompression tool for treating herniated discs and chronic back pain, and the balance measurement device for assessing functional balance levels. The posture evaluation device was also highlighted for its four-dimensional analysis capabilities.

In the physiotherapy evaluation lab, Sheikh Sultan reviewed the transcranial
magnetic stimulation device for treating neurological disorders, alongside tools such as the cardiopulmonary exercise testing device and the isokinetic dynamometer, essential for sports injury rehabilitation and assessing muscle strength.

The integrated neuroscience unit laboratory provided insights into technologies evaluating nerve and muscle functions, essential for creating predictive models for neurological disorders. Additionally, Sheikh Sultan explored the virtual reality laboratory for nursing skills, which integrates VR and simulation technologies, offering students realistic patient care scenarios to enhance their skills.
