UAE and Malaysia Seek to Strengthen Parliamentary Ties

Kuala lumpur: Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Defence, Interior, and Foreign Affairs Committee at the Federal National Council (FNC), recently engaged in discussions with Datuk Jonathan bin Yasin, Chairman of the Special Select Committee on Security in the Malaysian Parliament, on enhancing parliamentary cooperation. The meeting took place in Kuala Lumpur.

According to Emirates News Agency, the talks were attended by Dr. Mubarak Saeed AlDhaheri, UAE Ambassador to Malaysia, and focused on mechanisms to bolster coordination and cooperation between the two countries' parliaments. The discussions also explored opportunities for collaboration and the exchange of parliamentary and legislative expertise in areas of mutual priority.

The dialogue also covered developments in Asia and a range of regional and international issues of shared interest. Both parties reaffirmed that the strategic bilateral relations between the United Arab Emirates and Malaysia provide a solid foundation for enhancing parliamentary cooperation aimed at supporting security and stability.

The representatives emphasized the importance of strengthening joint parliamentary action in response to the rapidly evolving global landscape. They highlighted the role of parliamentary diplomacy in backing national and international efforts to combat terrorism and extremism, counter hate speech, and promote moderation and dialogue.
