Abu dhabi: The UAE and Sri Lanka recently engaged in discussions aimed at strengthening tourism cooperation and promoting long-term growth in the sector. The meeting focused on expanding investment ties, improving travel flows, and exchanging best practices in hospitality and hotel management.

According to Emirates News Agency, the discussions were held at the Ministry of Economy and Tourism's offices in Dubai. The meeting was attended by UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri and Sri Lanka's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism Vijitha Herath. Bin Touq highlighted the UAE's commitment to enhancing economic and tourism relations, noting tourism as a crucial driver for economic collaboration. He mentioned that the UAE welcomed over 43,333 Sri Lankan visitors in the first five months of 2026, following 153,430 visitors in 2025.

Both ministers underscored the significance of the 107 direct flights connecting the two countries weekly, indicating strong trade and travel links.
