Washington:The US trade deficit decreased by 0.7 percent to $105 billion in September, as reported by the US Commerce Department. This change was influenced by adjustments in both exports and imports during the month.

Specifically, goods imports rose by 1.3 percent to $346.9 billion. A significant contribution to this rise was the $11.6 billion increase in capital goods imports, which hit a record high of $158 billion, largely driven by computers and computer accessories.
Consumer goods imports saw an increase of $2.4 billion, but there were declines in other areas, with semiconductor imports dropping by $1.2 billion and imports of industrial supplies and materials decreasing by $3.7 billion.
