According to Emirates News Agency, Al Gergawi highlighted that fostering international dialogue and providing a platform for exchanging ideas and sharing expertise are key objectives of the Summit. The dialogue brought together seven candidates for the position of United Nations Secretary-General, including former presidents, international officials, and ambassadors. They discussed the future of global leadership, opportunities from technological development, and challenges facing governments.
The event, organized virtually by the World Governments Summit Organisation, included participants like Omar Sultan Al Olama and former leaders such as Macky Sall and Michelle Bachelet. They explored solutions and tools for governments to build future readiness, address challenges, and the role of artificial intelligence in development.
Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett emphasized the need for reforming the United Nations, stressing the importance of a Secretary-General focused on peace, security, and human rights. Rebeca Grynspan highlighted the necessity of multilateralism and restoring the UN's role in achieving peace and development.
Macky Sall pointed out that development must become a peace strategy, while Mara Espinosa called for a new business model for the UN. Ivonne A-Baki stressed the need for a proactive United Nations, and Michelle Bachelet advocated for renewing multilateralism to deliver visible results.
