Abu Dhabi:DIHAD Sustainable Organisation and the Government of Zambia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop the Zambia Medical City. This agreement was signed during the UAE-Zambia Business Forum and witnessed by Hakainde Hichilema, the President of Zambia.
According to Emirates News Agency, the MoU was signed by Eng. Khaled Al Attar, Director-General of DIHAD Sustainable Organisation, and Hon. Prof. Roma Chilengi, Minister of Health of Zambia. This initiative aims to establish a collaborative framework to enhance healthcare, sustainable development, and capacity building between the UAE and Zambia.
The Zambia Medical City will integrate medical services, education, and research facilities, including specialised centres, a hospital, a university, and training facilities. This project seeks to improve access to healthcare, advance medical expertise, and build a resilient healthcare system in Zambia.
Eng. Khaled Al Attar highlighted that the MoU represents a shift towards sustainable development systems. The Zambia Medical City aims to bring together medical services, education, research, and technology to build long-term community value. This initiative aligns with the UAE's commitment to sustainable development partnerships.
The Zambia Medical City will also support Zambia's economic and development goals by creating job opportunities and promoting medical tourism. The MoU reinforces a longstanding bilateral relationship between the UAE and Zambia, with ongoing cooperation in economy, renewable energy, and infrastructure.
The partnership aims to establish a future-ready healthcare ecosystem in Zambia, opening avenues for international expertise and knowledge exchange to benefit the region.
