Roads General Authority Announces Readiness of Makkah Roads to Welcome Pilgrims

Riyadh, The Roads General Authority announced that Makkah’s roads are prepared to welcome pilgrims for the upcoming Hajj season, 1445 AH after completing a series of key projects aimed at enhancing the infrastructure and providing pilgrims with a smooth and comfortable experience.

According to a statement by the Roads General Authority, the completed work involved surveying and assessing 4,000 km of roads, milling and repaving 158 km, repairing cracks and potholes at 403 locations, and clearing and trimming 2,361 km of road shoulders. Road crews also removed 1,240 cubic meters of dunes and cleaned 421 valley drains.

The Roads General Authority’s goal is to deliver top quality services for pilgrims. Saudi Arabia’s extensive road network, ranked first globally for connectivity by the World Bank, plays a crucial role in easing transportation between the holy sites, facilitating seamless movement for pilgrims as they travel to and from Al Mashaaer sacred places.
