ADAFSA Highlights Agricultural Initiatives at Al Dhafra Date Festival

Abu dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) is set to participate in the fourth edition of the Al Dhafra Date Festival and Auction, organized by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority. The event takes place from 17th to 26th October in Madinat Zayed, Al Dhafra Region.

According to Emirates News Agency, ADAFSA's participation aims to increase public awareness of its services for farmers and livestock breeders while highlighting its role in supporting the agricultural sector, particularly in palm cultivation and date production across Abu Dhabi. The authority also seeks to educate the community on the significance of palm trees and best practices for their care by promoting Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs).

ADAFSA will feature a dedicated pavilion at the festival to exhibit its projects and services, distribute educational materials, and organize activities, including virtual workshops on agricultural best practices for palm tree and date care. The authority will also promote the Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Agricultural Excellence Award, encouraging farmers and livestock breeders to enroll.

Moreover, ADAFSA will introduce visitors to newly launched economic activities available on Abu Dhabi farms, concentrating on those suited to the Al Dhafra region. Farm owners who have embraced these initiatives will share their experiences with festival attendees.

The authority will further present the Livestock Holding Index, which aids in animal production development by monitoring inputs and outputs across livestock farms. Additionally, ADAFSA will raise awareness about local date varieties and educate visitors on major agricultural pests that affect palm trees and prevention methods.

ADAFSA's involvement in this national event underscores the UAE leadership's dedication to advancing the agricultural sector and preserving Emirati heritage. The festival embodies the vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, whose legacy continues to steer efforts in preserving agricultural heritage, particularly the palm tree.
