Abu Dhabi: Counselor Yousef Saeed Al Abri, Undersecretary of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD), inaugurated a permanent exhibition showcasing and selling traditional products, handicrafts, and artistic works created by inmates of correctional and rehabilitation centres at the Department's headquarters in Abu Dhabi.
According to Emirates News Agency, the opening ceremony was attended by Counselor Ali Mohammed Al Blooshi, Attorney General of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, along with several sectors and divisions directors from the ADJD. Counselor Al Abri emphasized that the initiative underlines the Department's dedication to adopting best practices in the care and rehabilitation of inmates. He explained that comprehensive rehabilitation programmes are provided, which include vocational training, continuing education, and psychological and social support. These efforts are pivotal in reforming inmates and achieving sustainable justice while ensuring community safety.
Al Abri highlighted that vocational training workshops aim to provide inmates with new job market opportunities upon completing their sentences, facilitating their reintegration into societal and economic life. He also noted the ongoing implementation of innovative initiatives in inmate care, rehabilitation, and reform, which enhance the quality of services supporting inmates' reintegration into society in line with international best practices.
The permanent exhibition showcases a diverse collection of traditional products and handcrafted works embodying Emirati cultural identity, heritage, customs, and traditions, highlighting the nation's cultural legacy.
