AGDA and Rabdan Academy Host Panel Discussion on Security Diplomacy and Regional Conflicts

Abu dhabi: The Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy (AGDA), in partnership with Rabdan Academy, recently hosted a panel discussion titled 'Security Diplomacy and Regional Conflicts'. The event featured Salem Saeed Ghafan Al Jabri, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Security and Military Affairs, alongside distinguished alumni and experts in diplomacy and security.

According to Emirates News Agency, the panel focused on the essential role of security diplomacy in resolving regional conflicts through dialogue, mediation, and confidence-building measures. These approaches were highlighted as effective alternatives to military escalation, aiming to support international peace and stability.

The discussion further delved into methods to bolster cooperation among nations and international institutions to tackle the root causes of conflicts. Emphasis was placed on aligning security needs with the core diplomatic principles of dialogue and mutual understanding.

Nickolay Mladenov, Director-General of AGDA, highlighted the synergy between security and diplomacy in preventing crises and building durable peace. He emphasized that AGDA instills this mindset through rigorous training and real-world engagement. The collaboration with Rabdan Academy enhances a comprehensive national approach by merging diplomatic skills with advanced capabilities in safety, security, defense, emergency preparedness, and crisis management.

James Morse, President of Rabdan Academy, noted that the session is part of the Resilience and Diplomacy Forum launched last May, showcasing the strategic partnership between the two academies. He stated that this initiative empowers graduates to enhance their decision-making and crisis management skills in a complex global environment.

Morse also elaborated on how this partnership integrates diplomatic thought with modern security practices, contributing to developing national talents ready to serve the nation and promote peace, stability, and sustainable development. Rabdan Academy anticipates further collaboration through sessions and initiatives to bolster national resilience and deepen the interplay between diplomacy and security in line with the UAE's national interests.

The session included interactive discussions with alumni from both academies, who shared insights on the future of security diplomacy in the region. They addressed emerging challenges such as cybersecurity and advanced technologies through a cooperative, internationally-partnered diplomatic approach.
