Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region, the fourth edition of the Al Dhafra Dates Festival and Auction, organised by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, has been launched in Al Dhafra, Abu Dhabi. The festival aims to reinforce its status as a premier international heritage event, running until 26 October 2025.

According to Emirates News Agency, the festival seeks to promote date production and showcase premium varieties. It supports national food security goals, encourages farmers to enhance quality standards, and facilitates knowledge exchange in palm cultivation. This year's edition will feature 21 competitions offering 173 prizes valued at over AED5.5 million, including events such as date beauty contests, honey competitions, cooking, date packaging, painting, and photography.

Central to the festival is the daily Date Auction, a highlight for date enthusiasts. Visitors will have the chance to bid on premium Emirati dates of various types and grades displayed on dedicated tables. In addition to the competitions and auctions, the event will host a variety of cultural and educational activities. These include traditional folk performances, photography and painting exhibitions, heritage crafts, awareness lectures, and creative workshops for all ages. Attendees can also explore retail outlets offering dates and date products, farming equipment, and a dedicated Honey Village.

Government and private sector entities will participate with pavilions featuring interactive programmes and awareness platforms for farmers and visitors. They will also display their latest services and innovations in the agricultural sector. This year, the festival will host the Kingdom of Morocco as the guest of honour, highlighting cultural and agricultural exchange. The event aims to deepen cooperation between the two nations, particularly in palm cultivation and date production, as well as in other key sectors.
