Dubai: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has been honored with the 'SEAL Business Sustainability Award' 2025 in the 'Pioneering Sustainability Services' category for its Sustainability and Innovation Centre.
According to Emirates News Agency, the award celebrates organizations for their sustainability and environmental contributions, along with their leadership in adopting sustainable practices. It acknowledges the centre's significant global role in promoting energy transition efforts and achieving net-zero goals. Moreover, the award emphasizes the centre's work in raising sustainability awareness within the community and empowering future sustainability leaders.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, stated, "As a global incubator for renewable energy innovation, the Sustainability and Innovation Centre supports our efforts to make Dubai a global hub of green economy and sustainable development, achieving the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050. The centre empowers professionals and specialists, enhances their skills and knowledge, and strengthens their leadership capabilities, while also focusing on developing Emirati talent to actively contribute to shaping a sustainable future."
Waleed bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence at DEWA, mentioned that the centre has launched nine professional training courses, with over 220 participants graduating with accredited certificates. The centre provides visitors with the opportunity to explore innovations in clean and renewable energy through interactive experiences.
The award organizers commended the centre's eco-friendly building design and its educational environment, which hosts numerous programs and activities year-round. These include the first Middle East and North Africa Solar Conference, the CleanTech Innovators exhibition, the CleanTech Hackathon, the CleanTech Youth Programme, and various professional certification programs organized in collaboration with local and international academic organizations and start-ups.
