Dubai:Dubai Future Foundation (DFF) has announced a strategic partnership with DP World, marking DP World as the first strategic partner of the newly launched self-driving logistics joint venture, SHIFFT.
According to Wam, the collaboration, established with Oxa, a global autonomous vehicle technology company, is part of the Dubai Research, Development and Innovation Programme. It aims to leverage future technologies and advanced applications across service and logistics sectors to reinforce Dubai's position as a global leader in smart, autonomous logistics services and solutions.
The partnership will accelerate the development and deployment of next-generation autonomous logistics solutions across ports, terminals, industrial zones, and DP World facilities, starting at Jebel Ali Port. There is potential for expansion across DP World's network of more than 60 ports and terminals worldwide.
The initiative will focus on various logistics solutions, including vehicle integration, autonomous driving capabilities, safety frameworks, fleet management, traffic management, digital twin capabilities, situational intelligence systems, and operational performance optimization. SHIFFT will work on integrated solutions to operate within DP World's present and future technology environments.
Khalifa Al Qama, Chief of Research, Development and Innovation at DFF, highlighted the significance of selecting DP World as the first strategic partner, emphasizing the collaboration's potential to develop and scale practical solutions globally. Ibrahim Al Najjar, SVP - Information Technology at DP World GCC, noted the benefits of autonomous technology in creating more predictable and resilient supply chains, while also building future-ready skills for employees.
Paul Newman, CEO of Oxa, stated that the collaboration aims to transform industrial vehicles into an intelligent, autonomous digital workforce, enhancing fleet performance and supply chain resilience. This partnership reflects the shared vision of DFF and DP World to develop advanced technology solutions for the global logistics sector.
