Dubai: Emirates SkyCargo has announced the addition of Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) to its freighter network, marking a significant step in the airline's network expansion across East and Southeast Asia. The introduction of a weekly freighter service to Bangkok enhances the airline's already extensive route network, offering regional customers increased flexibility in transporting goods globally via Dubai.
According to Emirates News Agency, Emirates SkyCargo, the cargo division of the world's largest international airline, now serves 43 global destinations with its dedicated freighter fleet, 11 of which are located in East and Southeast Asia. Badr Abbas, Emirates SkyCargo's Divisional Senior Vice President, highlighted the importance of the region, stating that it will be pivotal to the airline's expansion plans through 2026 and beyond, given the exponential demand for cargo services.
The airline has also increased its freighter frequency to Hanoi, now operating four-weekly services. Three of these services connect directly to Dubai World Central (DWC), with the fourth linking Dubai, Taipei, and Hanoi, thus enhancing support for Vietnamese-based customers. Additionally, a sixth weekly freighter has been deployed to Guangzhou to meet the high demand from mainland China, which primarily involves consumer tech products, electrical goods, and eCommerce shipments.
Over the past three decades, Emirates SkyCargo has systematically expanded its operations in East and Southeast Asia. The airline currently serves 25 gateways with 45 freighter services, 13 charter services, and 315 passenger services weekly, providing an impressive 21,000 tonnes of cargo capacity. This strategic growth underscores Emirates SkyCargo's commitment to supporting the region's evolving trade needs with efficient and reliable cargo movement worldwide.
