FNC Approves Largest Union General Budget in UAE’s History for Fiscal Year 2026

Abu dhabi: The Federal National Council (FNC) has approved a federal draft law linking the Union General Budget and the budgets of independent federal entities for the fiscal year 2026. The approval took place during the council's second session of the third ordinary term of the 18th legislative chapter, held at Zayed Hall in Abu Dhabi under the chairmanship of Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the FNC.

According to Emirates News Agency, the session was attended by Mohamed Hadi Al Hussaini, Minister of State for Financial Affairs. Ghobash highlighted that the approval of the 2026 federal budget, the largest in the nation's history, underscores the UAE's growth and stability. He remarked that this financial plan is a strategic message reflecting the maturity of the country's financial management, balancing sustainability with development, and ensuring present well-being alongside future preparedness.

Al Hussaini, during the discussion, pointed out that the Cabinet's approval of the Union General Budget for 2026 amounts to AED92.4 billion, a significant increase from AED71.5 billion in 2025, marking a 29% rise. This makes it the largest federal budget in the nation's history, highlighting the strength of the national economy and the UAE's commitment to sustainable development.

He further noted that the 2026 budget represents an advanced model of financial planning, emphasizing the UAE's ability to adapt to global changes and its focus on generating added value for the national economy. The budget prioritizes key sectors such as education, health, infrastructure, and social development, reflecting the UAE's belief that investing in people and innovation is crucial for sustainable economic growth.
