Sharjah: The Friends of Cancer Patients (FOCP) has concluded its 2025 Pink October campaign, marking its highest level of public and institutional participation. The Pink Caravan, FOCP's flagship initiative, delivered 19,527 free breast cancer screenings across the UAE through both fixed and mobile clinics, underscoring the nation's commitment to early detection and community health.
According to Emirates News Agency, the campaign, themed 'A Community Through Her,' featured a wide array of educational and community engagement activities. These included Corporate Wellness Days and both in-person and online awareness sessions. Workshops on breast self-examination and informational material distribution emphasized the importance of early detection in improving treatment success and survival rates.
Aisha Al Mulla, Director of FOCP, highlighted the campaign's achievements, stating, "Under the patronage and directives of H.H. Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, we have reached significant milestones that position Sharjah as a leader in humanitarian and community initiatives. These efforts align with the UAE's national vision to reduce cancer prevalence, in line with We the UAE 2031, which focuses on developing a modern healthcare system."
Al Mulla further stated, "FOCP is dedicated to raising awareness and increasing access to breast cancer screenings, as timely detection leads to better treatment outcomes. This aligns with our commitment to a sustainable and responsible future."
Throughout October, the Pink Caravan operated 11 fixed clinics and a fleet of mobile units across more than 80 locations in the UAE. Fixed clinics were strategically placed in high-traffic public venues, while mobile units, equipped with 3D mammography technology, and mini mobile clinics offered screenings at workplaces through Corporate Wellness Days.
From October 10 to 12, the Pink Caravan hosted a community event at Aljada in Sharjah, attracting over 8,500 visitors and providing 1,135 free screenings. The event, under the theme 'A Community Through Her,' included workshops, performances, and family programming, with proceeds from the Manbat Market supporting FOCP initiatives.
The Pink Caravan also participated in the Battle Cancer fitness challenge in Dubai, offering on-site screenings and raising funds through the FOCP x Battle Cancer 2025 campaign.
The campaign received support from over 20 public and private organizations, including the Irthi Contemporary Crafts Council and Siella Beauty. Healthcare partners such as Advanced Care Oncology Centre ensured compliance with international medical standards.
Volunteers, including survivors, influencers, healthcare professionals, and students, played a significant role in the campaign, with 111 individuals contributing their efforts. FOCP emphasized the collective responsibility in the fight against cancer.
Throughout the year, the Pink Caravan's online Pink Shop offered campaign-branded merchandise, with all proceeds supporting cancer patients and their families.
