Fujairah: H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, received Dr. Choue Chung-won, President of the World Taekwondo Federation, and members of the Federation’s Executive Board at Al Rumaila Palace. This meeting occurred on the sidelines of the opening of the World Taekwondo Cadet Championships – Fujairah 2025, which commenced today with the participation of over 800 male and female athletes from around the world. The tournament is set to continue until May 14.
According to Emirates News Agency, during the meeting, H.H. affirmed that Fujairah’s hosting of international championships in various sports, including taekwondo, is part of a strategic vision. This vision aims to reinforce Fujairah’s status as a global sports hub and provide an environment conducive to the development of young local and international athletic talent.
H.H. noted that these achievements have been made possible by the guidance and support of H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah. He has devoted significant resources to ensure that sports events in the emirate are organized in line with international standards.
He also praised the role of the World Taekwondo Federation in advancing the sport and organizing major global championships. He emphasized that Fujairah’s consistent success in hosting sports events reflects its commitment to supporting the sports movement and creating an ideal environment for organizing international competitions.
For his part, the President of the World Taekwondo Federation expressed appreciation and gratitude to the Crown Prince of Fujairah for his continued support of sports, especially taekwondo. He also commended the Crown Prince’s humanitarian support for refugees and athletes worldwide, as well as his initiatives reflecting a commitment to the values of sport as a means of development and human connection.
