Hamdan bin Mohammed Launches Largest Edition of IDEX in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi: Under the patronage of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, inaugurated the 17th edition of the International Defence Exhibition (IDEX 2025) in Abu Dhabi. This year's edition is the largest in the event's history, featuring extensive participation from global defence companies, senior military officials, and key decision-makers in the sector.

According to Emirates News Agency, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan highlighted the advancements of the UAE's defence sector as a result of decades of commitment to national progress. He noted the UAE's focus on establishing necessary safeguards to secure its borders and achievements, while ensuring the sustainability of its successful development model. He emphasized the need for motivated armed forces to overcome challenges and enable the UAE to execute its strategic goals.

H.H. reiterated the UAE's commitment to promoting peace under the leadership of President H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The UAE actively spreads the message of peace, contributing to global stability and development. The opening ceremony was attended by Mohamed bin Mubarak Fadhel Al Mazrouei, Minister of State For Defence Affairs, Lieutenant General Issa Saif bin Ablan Al Mazrouei, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, and other senior officials.

Organised by ADNEC Group in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence and Tawazun Council, IDEX 2025 takes place from 17th to 21st February at the ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi. It brings together leading global defence companies to showcase the latest military technologies and systems, including advanced cybersecurity and artificial intelligence solutions.

This edition features 1,565 companies from 65 countries, a 16% increase from the previous edition, and covers an expanded area of 181,501 square metres. Notably, 731 new companies are participating for the first time, marking an 82% increase, while 213 UAE-based companies highlight the growth of the UAE's defence industry. Seven countries, including Qatar, Ethiopia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, and Cyprus, are debuting at IDEX.

The newly opened Hall 14 hosts 341 exhibitors, expanding the exhibition's diversity. IDEX 2025 features various activities and discussions, bringing together policymakers, thought leaders, and industry pioneers to explore groundbreaking innovations shaping the future of the defence industry.

The event also offers platforms for startups to showcase innovations. A key highlight is the first-ever global CBRNE Hub, addressing threats related to Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive weapons, with participation from 38 companies across 13 countries.

IDEX 2025 showcases over 3,300 cutting-edge products in land and air defence, artificial intelligence, robotics, cybersecurity, and advanced protection systems. Specialised conferences and panel discussions explore the future of defence industries and global security challenges, complemented by live demonstrations of the latest defence equipment.

As a leading global defence event, IDEX enhances international defence partnerships and drives innovation in security and defence technologies. Its success underscores its role as a premier platform for expertise exchange and showcasing military solutions.
