Dubai: IMCD, a global leader in the distribution and formulation of specialty chemicals and ingredients, has inaugurated new offices and technical centers in Dubai Science Park. The move underscores the UAE's position as a burgeoning hub for research and development.
According to Emirates News Agency, the newly opened 4,160 sq.ft. facility features dedicated floors for food and beverage (F and B) and coatings and construction (C and C) Technical Centres. This complex, part of TECOM Group PJSC's business districts, is equipped to conduct a variety of development, testing, and analysis processes to meet regional market needs.
The inauguration event was attended by senior officials, including Valerie Diele-Braun, Global CEO of IMCD; Lars Wallstein, Managing Director of IMCD Germany; Manuel Baumann, Managing Director of IMCD Middle East; Marwan Abdulaziz Janahi, Senior Vice President of Dubai Science Park, Dubai Knowledge Park, and Dubai International Academic City; and Vargheese Anthony, GM at Al Futtaim Logistics.
The new facilities mark a strategic move by IMCD Middle East to target growth in the F and B sector across the GCC, Jordan, Lebanon, and Egypt, as well as expand its footprint in the C and C segment throughout the wider region.
Marwan Abdulaziz Janahi highlighted that science-led advancements are crucial to the UAE's vision for sustainable development. He noted that the launch of IMCD Middle East's labs enriches the contributions of the ecosystem towards national priorities, including food security and sustainable construction, aligning with initiatives like the Dubai Economic Agenda 'D33', the Dubai Research and Development Programme, and We the UAE 2031.
Manuel Baumann added that the new laboratories reflect the growing regional demand for specialized testing and formulation expertise. The facility enables IMCD to collaborate more closely with regional manufacturers, fostering local product development and more sustainable practices. This expansion aims to enhance regional food security and promote environmentally sound building techniques, leveraging Dubai's role as an innovation hub.
IMCD Middle East's food labs are designed to support the development of new food products with capabilities such as texture analyses, sensory evaluations, and food product prototyping. This will benefit sectors including bakery, dairy, beverage, culinary, savory, snacks, and confectionery, drawing on IMCD's extensive ingredient portfolio and global expertise.
The C and C labs are focused on developing sustainable building products, particularly in areas such as waterproofing and coatings.
