Insan Rights and Freedoms Organization revealed on Thursday the crime of abduction and torture suffered by an Egyptian citizen and her daughter by the authorities in Marib province.
In a statement received, the Yemeni News Agency (SABA) explained: “Egyptian citizen Sahar Rajab Abdel Mohsen, married to a Yemeni citizen and her five-year-old daughter Samaa, arrived at the organization. Sahar reported that she was abducted on 16 December 2018 while she was six months pregnant while travelling from Sayoun airport to Ibb province.
The Egyptian citizen had testified about the physical and psychological torture she had suffered during the five years of the prison of Marib Political Security and the denial of communication with her parents, as well as the crime committed against the child Samaa, who had been born and lived in prison conditions with her mother, which constituted a violation of children’s rights.
Insan Rights and Freedoms Organization quoted the Egyptian citizen’s testimony on the catastrophic situation of women in the political security prison in Marib, as well as her statement that she was taken out with her child and husband and placed in a hotel in Marib under house arrest at the end of May 2023 and later she was able to leave for Sana’a.
Insan Organization called for the immediate cessation of the abuses of enforced disappearances and arbitrary arrests by the authorities in Marib and became systematic without accountability or respect for human values and morals.
It called for the speedy establishment of an independent international commission to investigate all crimes committed by the Marib authorities, in particular those committed against children, women and detainees in their prisons.
The statement affirmed that the Organization will stand with every human being who reaches out to it and deliver its injustice without discrimination, be deprived of his right to life and to live well, and remain a voice and forum for all civilian victims and abductees.
