Abu dhabi: The National Forum for Preparing Leaders in the Medical Sector (I’dad) was launched in the UAE capital under the slogan ‘Together for a Ready Nation.’ The event aims to develop competencies and skills in the medical field and build a base of locally and internationally accredited trainers.
According to Emirates News Agency, the initiative is part of the UAE National Programme for Medical Readiness and Response (Jaheziya), organised by Al Wataniya Training ‘Tadreeb’ and supervised by the UAE Volunteer and Reserve Medical Team. Dr. Adel Al Shamry Al Ajmi, CEO of Zayed Giving Initiative, highlighted that the forum is committed to equipping national cadres with strategic vision and advanced medical skills, aligning with international standards.
Dr. Al Shamry noted that the forum integrates academic education and practical training to develop leadership skills necessary for addressing contemporary challenges in the medical field. The programme follows a unified curriculum recognized both locally and internationally, aiming to prepare national leaders capable of tackling health sector challenges using the latest scientific methodologies.
The forum’s opening session focused on national initiatives in medical readiness and the role of medical personnel in leading the healthcare system. It also emphasized innovative medical programmes for preparedness and emergency response, which have successfully built the capabilities of thousands of healthcare workers in recent years.
Collaborations with global institutions like the American College of Surgeons and the European Center for Disaster Medicine have been instrumental in enhancing the medical sector’s capabilities. This initiative is a testament to the leadership’s support for Emirati doctors, promoting innovation and sustainable health development under the forum’s slogan.
Professor Oliver Jacden, Director of the National Programme for Medical Education, stated that the forum is held periodically across the Emirates. It targets hospital leaders and heads of medical departments, focusing on preparing leaders to manage training programs and medical departments in various hospitals.
