Abu dhabi: Khalifa University of Science and Technology's Khalifa University Enterprises Company (KUEC), the university's business and investment arm, and Rabdan Academy have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate in education, research, and training within the Safety, Security, Defence, Emergency Preparedness, and Crisis Management (SSDEC) sectors.
According to Emirates News Agency, the MoU was signed by Prof. Ebrahim Al Hajri, President of Khalifa University; James Anthony Morse, President of Rabdan Academy; and Amal Nasser Al Jabri, Chief Executive Officer of KUEC. Prof. Al Hajri expressed that the university's academic and research expertise, in conjunction with KUEC's entrepreneurial capabilities, will be beneficial for Rabdan Academy in merging academic and vocational education. He pointed out that the MoU will facilitate internship programs that are crucial for students to acquire practical experience and become part of the talent pool sought by employers.
Morse noted that this partnership is a strategic move to bolster integration among higher education institutions in the UAE. He emphasized that it contributes to the development of a learning ecosystem that meets the evolving requirements of the SSDEC sectors. He further elaborated on Rabdan Academy's commitment to collaborate with prominent academic and research entities, such as Khalifa University, to develop a highly qualified workforce capable of tackling future challenges.
Al Jabri stated that the collaboration with Rabdan Academy aligns with KUEC's mission to advance the UAE's transition to a knowledge-based economy. She remarked that KUEC fosters an environment that combines academic excellence, research prowess, and entrepreneurial drive, which will significantly aid students in advancing their professional careers.
The MoU also includes plans for joint initiatives in student internships, research projects, knowledge exchange, and event organization. It aims to enhance institutional capabilities and student development through shared expertise and coordinated efforts.
