Dubai: H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of the UAE, and Chairman of the Dubai Judicial Council, has unveiled the Dubai Judicial Authority's 2024 annual report. The report underlines the performance of Dubai's judicial entities, emphasizing improvements in operations and service delivery, which will help shape future policies and strategies for strengthening the judicial authority.
According to Emirates News Agency, H.H. Sheikh Maktoum emphasized the priority of fortifying Dubai's judicial system in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. He highlighted the annual report's role in promoting transparency and evaluating judicial performance, which supports efforts to enhance the system's efficiency.
Dr. Abdullah Saif Al Sabousi, Secretary-General of the Dubai Judicial Council, noted that Dubai's judicial authorities work under the direct supervision of H.H. Sheikh Maktoum to maintain high standards in judicial work. The annual reports offer insights into the system's performance and assist in addressing challenges, supporting the directives for robust governance and efficient justice delivery.
The report showcases achievements such as the adoption of judicial career paths, the launch of an online service system, and the approval of the Authority's 2024-2026 strategy. The Judicial Council issued numerous resolutions and enactments to improve governance, while the General Secretariat completed studies that informed development projects.
In 2024, Dubai Courts reported substantial judicial activity, including remote hearings, video conferencing investigations, and a rise in smart service requests. The judiciary saw a 17% increase in strength, aiming to expedite case resolutions. Professional development received emphasis, with judiciary members receiving extensive training hours.
Dubai Courts also reported a significant increase in case settlement values and public auction revenues. The accuracy of judgments improved, and reductions were noted in the time to judgment for appellate courts and the Court of Cassation. Executed requests reached completion, and enforcement proceedings saw increased funds collected.
The report highlights the Public Prosecution's proactive engagement in non-criminal cases and its efficiency in handling criminal cases. It maintained high rates of accuracy and timely execution for criminal judgments.
The Judicial Inspection Authority increased its oversight activities, addressing numerous complaints and enhancing its inspection efforts. The Dubai Judicial Council remains dedicated to justice, equality, and the rule of law, contributing to Dubai's sustainable development through a fair and modern judicial system.
