MBRCGI Unveils Government Technology 5.0 Report Highlighting Global Innovations in Public Sector

Dubai: The Mohammed bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation (MBRCGI), in partnership with the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA), has launched the Government Technology 5.0 report on MBRCGI's digital platform, Ibtekr. The report features 11 international models of emerging technology applications in the public sector, aligning with MBRCGI's mission to prepare government entities for the future.

According to Emirates News Agency, the report aims to empower government entities with knowledge to embrace agile and innovative operating models. Huda Al Hashimi, Deputy Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Strategic Affairs, emphasized that this report is a testament to the UAE government's dedication to staying abreast of the latest innovations and technologies. Al Hashimi noted that the report contributes to a comprehensive collection of studies on the Ibtekr platform, underscoring MBRCGI's collaboration with TDRA to accelerate innovation in government operations.

Majed Sultan Al Mesmar, Director-General of TDRA, highlighted the report's role in supporting the UAE's vision of a future-ready government model centered on innovation and advanced technologies. He stressed that the insights provided in the report will aid government entities in adopting smart solutions to improve service delivery and meet user expectations. Al Mesmar reaffirmed TDRA's commitment to strategic partnerships for knowledge transfer and global best practices that enhance the UAE's leadership in digital transformation.

The report details examples such as the use of metaverse platforms, artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, autonomous vehicles, drones, and 5G networks in public services. Notable projects include Metaverse Seoul in Korea, Singapore's Project Ubin, and blockchain applications in Brazil. Other initiatives span across Japan, the UK, Bulgaria, and the UAE, featuring innovative solutions in areas like autonomous environmental service vehicles, drone traffic management, and renewable energy monitoring.

Seoul's Metaverse Seoul project, for instance, provides government services in a virtual 3D environment, allowing users to interact with agencies via avatars. Singapore's Project Ubin utilizes blockchain for efficient payment transactions, while Brazil's Digital Procurement solution employs blockchain for secure digital bidding.

Furthermore, the report highlights the UK's use of 5G in ambulances for remote diagnosis, Japan's drone traffic management system, and Bulgaria's 5G-based renewable energy monitoring system. The UAE initiatives, such as the Global Blockchain Council and Dubai Metaverse Strategy, aim to position Dubai as a leader in emerging technologies by enhancing digital infrastructure and fostering innovation.

Ibtekr, the Arab world's pioneering digital platform for government innovation, plays a crucial role in developing capabilities and nurturing future leaders in the region. Through educational resources, toolkits, and training labs, Ibtekr empowers government entities to innovate and enhance public sector services and overall quality of life.
