Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure Explores Green Certification for Buildings

Abu Dhabi: The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure is examining the potential issuance of green and sustainability certificates for government and commercial buildings. Sharif Al Olama, Under-Secretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs, highlighted this initiative at the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, emphasizing its role in advancing energy and water consumption efficiency.

According to Emirates News Agency, the ministry's initiative aligns with the broader goal of establishing the 'Global Energy Efficiency Alliance' led by the UAE. This alliance seeks to share expertise, global best practices, and successful projects in energy efficiency enhancement. The ministry is also preparing to launch a tender focused on improving the efficiency of over 400 government buildings.

Al Olama further elaborated on a pilot project initiated in partnership with Aldar Properties, First Abu Dhabi Bank, and several specialized energy solution companies. This project represents a collaborative effort to drive energy efficiency improvements across various sectors.
