Ministry of Interior Engages in Global Efforts to Tackle Financial Crimes

Abu Dhabi:The Ministry of Interior participated in a panel discussion titled 'Fraud Hubs, Online Casinos, and High-Risk Investments in Southeast Asia,' which was held alongside the 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice.

According to Emirates News Agency, Hamad Mohammed Al-Hinai, an expert from the Ministry's Federal Cybercrime Department, delivered a presentation on the criminal ecosystem surrounding fraud hubs. His insights covered issues such as human trafficking, investment fraud, money laundering, and the misuse of virtual assets, along with crimes involving online casinos and digital infrastructure.

Al-Hinai emphasized the transnational nature of these crimes, noting that perpetrators operate across multiple jurisdictions and utilize digital and financial infrastructures worldwide. He called for enhanced international cooperation, improved information sharing, and coordinated actions among authorities to effectively track and disrupt criminal networks.

The presentation also detailed the UAE's initiatives to combat transnational financial and cybercrimes. This includes collaboration among security agencies, financial institutions, and the private sector, rapid information exchange, and public-private partnerships. The UAE remains committed to strengthening these practices in partnership with international allies.

Al-Hinai highlighted the importance of focusing on criminal networks rather than individual cases, urging a comprehensive examination of bank accounts, cryptocurrency wallets, online domains, IP addresses, and related financial entities. This strategy aims to identify and dismantle the infrastructure supporting criminal operations.

He further emphasized the need for an integrated system to exchange information, trace financial flows, and enhance cooperation among security, financial, and technology sectors. With criminal networks operating across borders, Al-Hinai asserted that security responses must also transcend national boundaries.
