Amman:TRENDS Global, a division of TRENDS Group, actively participated in the 'Knights of the Message - Leaders of the Moral Journey' conference held in Amman, Jordan. This international event was organized by the Knights of Peace organization and attracted researchers, academics, and officials from various Arab and regional countries.
According to Emirates News Agency, Alia Darwish Al Nuaimi, a Senior Researcher at TRENDS, presented a paper titled "The Diplomacy of Tolerance and Peace The UAE Model of Coexistence and International Presence." Her presentation explored how the United Arab Emirates transformed national values of tolerance and coexistence into tools for international diplomatic engagement.
Al Nuaimi traced the historical roots of these values in the UAE back to the vision of the country's Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. She emphasized the role of these values in shaping society and fostering closer viewpoints. The UAE's approach, she noted, has evolved through various institutional and legislative frameworks, as well as national and international initiatives.
Her paper highlighted the constitutional and institutional structures supporting this diplomatic strategy, such as the establishment of the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence and the National Tolerance Programme. Additionally, it examined initiatives like the Abrahamic Family House and the Document on Human Fraternity, signed in Abu Dhabi in 2019, aimed at promoting interfaith dialogue.
Al Nuaimi underscored the UAE's commitment to peace and mediation efforts, noting that tolerance is linked to soft power. She explained how this enables countries to enhance their influence through attraction and persuasion rather than force.
In conclusion, she noted that tolerance in the UAE has evolved from a national value into a key component of the country's soft power, supported by institutional and legislative frameworks, as well as cultural and religious partnerships. This evolution has strengthened the UAE¾¢s regional and international presence.
