Ashgabat: On behalf of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, led the United Arab Emirates delegation at the Peace and Trust Forum and Conference 2025, held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
According to Emirates News Agency, the conference was organised by the Government of Turkmenistan in partnership with the United Nations. It is part of the United Nations General Assembly’s declaration of 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust, aligned with the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality, a status first adopted on 12th December 1995 and reaffirmed through multiple United Nations General Assembly resolutions.
The event commenced with an opening plenary session titled ‘Peace and Trust: Unity of Goals for a Sustainable Future’. This session served as a platform for discussions on the significance of enhancing mutual trust and international cooperation for global peace and security. It was followed by three thematic sessions focusing on neutrality and trust as foundations for sustainable international cooperation, the link between peace and sustainable development, and the culture of peace and dialogue, highlighting the role of education, youth, and humanitarian cooperation.
Representatives of various states and international and regional organisations participated in discussions to explore ways to deepen international dialogue. These dialogues emphasized neutrality, trust, and cooperation as pillars for sustainable peace and security, multilateral partnerships, and understanding among nations amid global challenges.
Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan was accompanied by Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of State, and Ahmed Al-Hameli, Ambassador of the UAE to Turkmenistan. The conference is expected to conclude with a final document outlining visions and proposals to promote peace and trust internationally, alongside initiatives for future events to embed these principles and enhance global cooperation.
The UAE’s involvement in this forum underscores the nation’s commitment, under President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to support international efforts in promoting a culture of peace, strengthening trust, and advancing dialogue and cooperation for a stable and prosperous global community.
