Abu dhabi: The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) announced that the UAE will experience a surface low-pressure system from December 13th to 19th, resulting in periods of atmospheric instability.
According to Emirates News Agency, the NCM stated that the instability will manifest in waves due to a surface low-pressure system originating from the Red Sea, which will be accompanied by humid southeasterly winds. This phenomenon will occur alongside the extension of an upper-level low-pressure system that will fluctuate in intensity, with a northwesterly air current.
From Saturday through Monday, weather conditions are forecasted to be partly cloudy to cloudy at times, with the possibility of light to moderate rainfall. Some areas, particularly the islands and certain coastal and northern regions, may experience heavy rain.
Between Tuesday and Friday, the upper-level low-pressure system is anticipated to deepen further, bringing a cold air mass with it. This will result in increased cloud cover over scattered areas, including convective clouds, leading to rainfall of varying intensity. This rainfall may occasionally be accompanied by lightning, thunder, and a chance of hail in some regions.
The NCM indicated that winds will initially be southeasterly to northeasterly, eventually shifting to northwesterly, and varying from moderate to fresh, potentially becoming strong, especially with convective cloud presence. This may cause blowing dust and sand, resulting in reduced horizontal visibility.
Sea conditions are projected to be slight to moderate initially, becoming rough at times with increased cloud activity, affecting both the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
