Opening of Zayed National Museum Marks Historic Milestone in UAE’s Cultural Journey

Abu dhabi: Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi, announced that the opening of the Zayed National Museum in December 2025, coinciding with the UAE's 54th National Day, represents a historic moment in the nation's journey.

According to Emirates News Agency, Al Mubarak emphasized that the museum will serve as the anchor of the Saadiyat Cultural District in Abu Dhabi, embodying the UAE's identity, history, and ambitions. It will honor the legacy of the Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and offer insights into the nation's values and achievements.

Al Mubarak highlighted that Abu Dhabi's cultural vision is rooted in two principles: culture as a bridge between societies and the importance of preserving heritage while embracing the future. The Zayed National Museum will complement other cultural institutions in the district, offering a unique narrative centered on the UAE's story and values.

Inside the museum, visitors will explore exhibits that trace the UAE's ancient heritage and modern achievements, including artifacts like the Abu Dhabi Pearl and the Magan boat reconstruction. The museum will also celebrate Sheikh Zayed's life and values, reflecting his beliefs in unity, nature, education, and global openness.

Al Mubarak underscored the museum's role as a hub for learning, dialogue, and global cultural exchange, featuring exhibitions on themes ranging from archaeology to sustainability. The museum's architecture, designed by Foster + Partners, incorporates traditional Emirati elements and modern sustainability practices.

The museum's inauguration during Eid Al Etihad week carries symbolic significance, reinforcing the unity and progress of the UAE. Al Mubarak stated that the Zayed National Museum will enhance Abu Dhabi's mission to become a leading global cultural center and strengthen international connections.

He emphasized the museum's role in inspiring younger generations and inviting global visitors to understand the UAE's evolving cultural story. The museum's creation involved meticulous planning and collaboration with experts worldwide to ensure accuracy and authenticity.

Al Mubarak concluded by inviting people worldwide to be part of this significant moment, encouraging them to experience the museum's offerings and contribute to a shared future rooted in Emirati identity.
