Sharjah: The Sharjah Executive Council (SEC) convened its regular meeting, presided over by H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, the Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, along with H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah. The session was held at the Ruler's Office and focused on assessing the operational efficiency of government departments and entities within Sharjah, with an emphasis on development plans that aim to enhance the emirate's quality of life.
According to Emirates News Agency, the Council reviewed a performance results report for the Suburbs Councils and Parents' Councils for 2024. This report outlined statistics demonstrating the councils' contributions to social cohesion and community culture. It included details on requests, initiatives, and services that aid the community, along with insights from the 13th Suburbs Festival. Notably, 350 requests were received from residents, and 229 initiatives were organized. The councils also facilitated 557 occasions and weddings and conducted 1,783 funeral services.
The report also detailed the involvement of parents' councils, highlighting that 12,446 individuals, including parents, community members, and students, were targeted through various projects and field visits. Furthermore, the Council reviewed a report on the bee sector development and honey production project in Sharjah. This initiative aims to sustain beekeeping and honey production, including the production of queens, honey, and bee derivatives, as well as establishing apiaries in the emirate.
The analysis provided insights into the local honey market's current state and global forecasts for growth in the beekeeping sector. It also addressed challenges, opportunities, and coordination efforts between beekeepers and relevant authorities, as well as highlighting the flowering seasons of local plants. Plans for an organic honey products factory and laboratory were also discussed, outlining key features to support the sector's growth.
