Sharjah: H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Vice Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council (SEC), chaired a meeting on Tuesday at the Sharjah Ruler's Office. Present at the meeting was H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, also Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Vice Chairman of the SEC.
According to Emirates News Agency, the meeting addressed the performance of government entities within the emirate and explored methods to enhance service levels for individuals and companies. The focus was on improving the quality of life and supporting sustainable development in Sharjah by providing necessary facilities and equipment.
The Council reviewed a report on the operational projects at University Hospital Sharjah, which highlighted expansion initiatives to increase capacity and improve patient experiences. The expansion includes various medical departments and facilities. Development projects aimed at enhancing service efficiency and quality were also discussed. These projects include upgrades to the Emergency Department, pharmacy, and Education Department, which is crucial for expanding practical training opportunities for students.
Additionally, the report discussed the upgrading of medical equipment and systems to align with technological advancements. This includes enhancements in the Interventional Radiology Department and improvements to electronic systems to streamline procedures and patient data management for hospital staff. Future projects include an automated pharmacy, expansion of the hospital building, a Physiotherapy Building, and an Elderly Care Centre.
The Council also reviewed a report by the Sharjah Police on initiatives to raise community awareness about the risks of drug use. The report highlighted the negative health, social, psychological, and economic impacts of drugs, which pose a threat to family and societal stability. Awareness campaigns and programs conducted by the Sharjah Police, in collaboration with relevant entities, were also discussed. These initiatives aim to educate the public on drug-related risks, encourage reporting of such behaviors, and emphasize the role of families, educational institutions, and community organizations in safeguarding children from drug dangers.
