Sharjah Chamber and Portuguese Business Council Forge Stronger Economic Ties

Sharjah: The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) recently hosted a significant meeting and event to celebrate the National Day of the Portuguese Republic, in collaboration with the Portuguese Business Council. The discussions aimed at enhancing cooperation between the business communities of Sharjah and Portugal, focusing on boosting commercial and economic partnerships, increasing trade exchange, and creating new investment opportunities for private-sector enterprises in both regions.

According to Emirates News Agency, the event saw the presence of key figures such as Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI; Fernando Figueirinhas, Ambassador of Portugal to the UAE; and Raghda Hamad Omran Taryam, Board Member of SCCI. Other notable attendees included Abdul Aziz Al Shamsi, Assistant Director-General for Communication and Business Sector at SCCI; Dr Fatema Khalifa Al Muqarrab, Director of International Relations at SCCI; and Lurdes Eusebio, Chairperson of the Portuguese Business Council in Sharjah, among others.

Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, in his address, welcomed the participants and congratulated the Portuguese Business Council on Portugal's National Day, expressing hopes for continued prosperity and further growth in the bilateral relations between the two countries. He highlighted the existing strong economic and developmental momentum, which provides a foundation for advancing strategic cooperation between the UAE and Portugal's business communities.

Fernando Figueirinhas appreciated the Sharjah Chamber for organizing the event, underscoring the depth of bilateral relations and the ongoing cooperation between Portugal and the UAE. He praised Sharjah as a prime investment and trade destination, noting its infrastructure and business-support ecosystem.

Lurdes Eusebio commended the Sharjah Chamber's support, emphasizing its role in enabling the Portuguese Business Council to attract more Portuguese businesses to Sharjah. She noted the Council's efforts in promoting investment opportunities in sectors such as the green and circular economy, renewable energy, agri-tech, and more.

The discussions also included initiatives by the Portuguese Business Council to explore investment sectors that can build high-value partnerships based on knowledge exchange and complementary interests, aiming for sustainable benefits on both sides.
