Sharjah: The winners of the Sharjah Triathlon were crowned today following exciting competitions held on Al Mamzar Corniche, with the participation of 400 male and female athletes, as part of the Sharjah Sports Council’s community and sports events agenda. The awarding ceremony was attended by Ahmed Al Shamsi, Vice President of the UAE Triathlon Federation; Dr. Yasser Omar Al Doukhi, Director of Sports and Community Events; and several officials.
According to Emirates News Agency, in the Olympic category, which included a 1.5km swim, 40km cycling, and 10km running, Marwan Al Bannai emerged victorious in the UAE men’s division, while Mariam Al Ali claimed the top spot in the UAE women’s division. In the open category, Oscar Marquez and Michelle Niguel secured wins in the men’s and women’s races respectively.
The Sprint category, featuring a 750m swim, 20km cycling, and 5km run, saw Abdullah Hassan Al Ali and Kathloom Al Mazmi winning the UAE men’s and women’s races respectively. In the open division, Ali Al Zobaie and Lindsey Nader finished first in the men’s and women’s races. The team of Omran Shaqir, Monjam Belgoutai, and Shreyas Bekoor dominated the Sprint team category.
In the Super Sprint race, which consisted of a 350m swim, 10km cycling, and 1.5km run, Hamed Al Suraidi won the UAE men’s category, while Dr. Paton and Ana Laura took the top spots in the open men’s and open women’s categories. The Junior race, featuring a 150m swim, concluded with Marwan Al Bannai and Mariam Al Ali winning the UAE boys’ and girls’ categories. Benedict Hohn and Adriana Loranka won the open boys’ and girls’ races.
